Single image from "Epic", the working title for a 9 minute animation that explores the
darker side of computer graphics. The stars of the show are:
- Hagia Sophia, a 6th century Byzantine Christian church modelled with
the Eagle Computer Aided Design System
- Reedlburg, a cellular automata generated city backdrop and
- some procedurally modelled tracer bullets.
- the simulation of traditional film effects such as "star burst" filters and video after
images.
The image was rendered by the Computer Animation Negus Raytrace System
developed in the School of Computing at
Curtin University of Technology. The model has 46000 polygons and took 2 hours to render on a Silicon Graphics Indigo.
